Monel tubing, or Monel alloy tubing, is an alloy of tubing with nickel and copper as the main components. Common MONEL alloys include Monel 400, Monel K500 and others.
Monel 400: This is the most common type of Monel alloy sheet and consists mainly of about 63% nickel, 30% copper and small amounts of iron and manganese. It has good resistance to seawater corrosion and hydrofluoric acid corrosion, as well as high strength and toughness.
Monel K500: This is a strengthened version of Monel 400, which has been solid solution strengthened and age-hardened with the addition of aluminum and titanium elements, thereby increasing the strength and hardness of the sheet. It also has excellent corrosion resistance and is suitable for higher pressures and more demanding environments.
Excellent corrosion resistance: Monel tubes exhibit good corrosion resistance in a wide range of corrosive media, including seawater, salt water, alkaline solutions and certain acid solutions.
Good mechanical properties: Monel tubes have high strength and hardness, as well as good toughness and ductility, and are able to withstand large pressures and loads.
Good processing performance: Monel tubes are easy to process and mold, and can be processed and manufactured by welding, cutting, bending and other processes.
Wide range of applications: Due to the excellent performance of Monel tubes, it is widely used in the fields of marine engineering, chemical industry, petroleum, food processing and so on.
The price of Monel tubes/pipes is influenced by a number of factors, including the type of alloy, specification size, production process, and market demand. Generally speaking, Monel 400 tubes are relatively low in price, while Monel K500 tubes are relatively high in price due to the addition of strengthening elements.
