Hastelloy C22 alloy has excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. It has excellent resistance to oxidizing aqueous media, including wet chlorine, nitric acid, or a mixture of oxidizing acids containing chloride ions. Hastelloy C22 alloy is also ideally suited to resist both reducing and oxidizing environments encountered in the process. With this versatility, it can be used in some of the most challenging environments or in multi-purpose manufacturing plants. Hastelloy C22 alloy is exceptionally resistant to a wide range of chemical environments including strong oxidizing substances such as ferric chloride, copper chloride, chlorine, thermally contaminated solutions (both organic and inorganic), formic, acetic and acetic anhydrides, seawater, and salt solutions. Hastelloy C22 alloy has the ability to resist the formation of grain boundary precipitates in the weld heat-affected zone, which makes it adaptable to a wide range of chemical process applications even in the welded condition.
