The material of 2205 2507 and 2304 belong to duplex stainless steel grades. Duplex Stainless Steel, it is a stainless steel material with special microstructure. The main alloying elements of Duplex stainless steel include chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni), and may contain molybdenum (Mo), copper (Cu), niobium (Nb), titanium (Ti), nitrogen (N) and so on.
The microstructure of Duplex stainless steel consists of two phases, ferrite and austenite, each accounting for about 50 percent of the total, while the lesser phase must also be present in at least 30 percent. This two-phase organization makes Duplex stainless steel has unique performance characteristics.
High strength: The yield strength of Duplex stainless steel can reach 400~550MPa, which is twice that of general stainless steel, so it can save material and reduce the manufacturing cost of equipment.
Good plasticity and toughness: Compared with ferritic stainless steel, Duplex stainless steel has better plasticity and toughness, no room temperature brittleness.
Excellent corrosion resistance: Duplex stainless steel has excellent resistance to pore corrosion, crevice corrosion, stress corrosion and corrosion fatigue performance, especially in the medium of the environment is more severe conditions, such as seawater containing high chloride ions, its corrosion resistance is significantly better than the general austenitic stainless steel.
